In 1980 British businessman Richard Nissen established superior serviced offices on Piccadilly, London. Derived from working practices experienced whilst working in New York, Richard founded Business Space Limited to provide flexible business accommodation and support services to an expanding SME market. Richard also had the forethought to trademark the term Virtual Office.
In 1992, in a challenging economic climate, he pioneered the "Virtual Office" telecommunications solution allowing non-resident city professionals to project a central London address and telephone prefix with a selection of reliable support services.
As business developed Richard was joined by his brother, Anthony, to grow and manage the Virtual Office business.
The Virtual Office remains a small family business with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit; partnered with the experience, knowledge and courage of a strong team.
In 1996 the Group became a certified ISO 9001 company by the BV Certification UK Ltd - the British arm of the prestigious global standardisation association - in order to ensure premium service standards. The Virtual Office continues to improve systems and processes to this high standard.
In 2010, the company celebrated 30 years of successful operation providing bespoke serviced office accommodation and support services for "the virtually independent" working professional.
